Legacy Planning
What is a pledge?
A pledge is an amount of money you promise to contribute. Pledges do not have to be paid immediately. The pledged amount can be fulfilled over an agreed payment schedule.
Can I restrict my gift to a specific sport?
Yes. Make a note on your pledge card that says "restrict to (sport)". Donations made to specific sports programs will not be eligible to receive the benefits listed within the benefits chart, but will receive tax credit.
What is the unrestricted account and how are those funds used to enhance the sports programs?
Unrestricted donations made to the AAF are used for the department's highest priorities including scholarships, program funding and capital projects. Unrestricted gifts are eligible to receive the benefits listed within the benefits chart including pre-game hospitality at various sporting events.
What is the minimum gift required to purchase season tickets at a discount?
At the Anteater Club level, a minimum gift of $50 enables the donor to purchase up to four men's basketball season tickets at a discounted price. Visit the ticket page for season ticket pricing.
How can I become more involved with the department's fundraising effort?
The AAF is always looking for new and innovative ways to enhance our fundraising efforts. If you have creative ideas and would like to become more involved with UCI Athletics, call Kristen Hughes at (949) 824-2046 or knhughes@uci.edu.
Is my donation tax deductible? And if so, how do I get credit for my tax donation?
All gifts to UCI Athletics are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. The deductibility of your gift may be affected by any benefits you receive. As with any charitable gifts, please consult with your financial advisor to determine your deduction. After your gift is processed, you will receive a detailed tax receipt from the UCI Foundation.
Can I fax my pledge card?
Yes. Pledge cards can be faxed to (949) 824-1493.
How can I be sure the AAF has received my pledge card?
After your gift is processed, you will receive a thank you letter from the Athletic Department and a printed tax receipt for your gift. If you give online, you will also receive a confirmation of your gift via e-mail. If you still have questions regarding your gift, please contact the AAF at (949) 824- 0055 or aaf@uci.edu.
When do I have to fulfill my pledge?
Annual gifts to the AAF should be completed within the academic year in which you would like to receive benefits. The giving calendar for the AAF is June 1st - May 31st. For example, if you would like to access hospitality for men's basketball, your gift should be received in October rather than February near the end of the basketball season. The better option is to donate before the season you would like to participate in so that you can enjoy the full value of your benefits.
Who can make payments on my pledge?
For tax purposes, pledges should be paid by the party that received benefits.
May I establish a family account?
No. Each account must have one individual name. However, you can create a scholarship in your family name. Contact Kara Correa at (949) 824-0055 for more information.

However, an increase in your pledge may qualify you to receive additional benefits like parking, hospitality and season ticket discounts. If you decide to increase your pledge, please contact the AAF so that appropriate adjustments can be made and benefits can be distributed.

Benefit:
What are the benefits of giving to the AAF?
Without your contributions, educational and athletic opportunities for UC Irvine student-athletes would not be possible. Giving to UCI Athletics allows you to invest in the future of UCI Athletics and helps shape the leaders of tomorrow. Maintaining annual gifts and increasing the number of annual donors keeps the foundation of UCI Athletics strong and in the national spotlight.
AAF members receive numerous benefits depending on their contribution level. Benefits include: priority points, special recognition in department publications, the quarterly Zot Spot Newsletter, discounts on official team merchandise, invitations to special events, pre-game hospitality and priority parking for specific sporting events. Please see the Benefits Chart for more details.
What are Priority Points?
The UCI priority point system exists to reward those individuals and donors entities that have made a commitment to UCI Athletics. The system provides objectivity and equity in determining donor status where donor requests exceed the available inventory. Such cases include requests for new season tickets, improvement of existing seat location, away game and post-season ticket allocation. For detailed information regarding UCI Athletics' priority point system, please contact the AAF at aaf@uci.edu or call the AAF at 949-824-0055.
Why is the All Sports pass no longer a benefit for giving?
Due to the department's increased marketing efforts to encourage the purchase of season tickets, the "All Sports" pass is no longer a benefit of giving to the AAF. However, as a member of the AAF, you are qualified to receive various season ticket discounts. As an AAF member you will also receive a designated number of all sport coupons which are good for one (1) general admission ticket to any regular season UCI Athletic home sporting event including men's and women's basketball and baseball .
Do AAF members receive priority seating for sporting events?
AAF members receive priority points which allow them priority over non-AAF members when requesting new season tickets, an improvement of their existing seat location, tickets for away games, and post-season ticket allocation when tickets are limited.
Events:
If I have questions regarding AAF events and VIP hospitality, who should I contact?
Please contact Kerry Boznanski at (949) 824-5550 or kboznans@uci.edu.
How can I attend a pregame VIP hospitality event?
Pregame hospitality is offered to UCI supporters who donate to the AAF at a certain level. Men's Volleyball hospitality is offered at the Varsity Club giving level. Men's basketball and baseball hospitalities are offered at the Grand Club giving level. Please refer to the Benefits Chart for more details.
Where are the VIP hospitality areas located?
UCI Men's Basketball and Men's Volleyball hospitalities are located in the Koll Room at all home games in the Bren Events Center. UCI Baseball hospitality is located in the Newkirk Pavilion in Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark at all home games.
What time is hospitality open?
- Men's Basketball hospitality opens one & 1/2 hours prior to the start of the game and closes at tip-off. The Koll Room will reopen for half time.
- Men's Volleyball hospitality opens one hour prior to the match & closes at the first serve.
- Baseball hospitality opens with the first pitch and remains open throughout the game.
What are the rules in the VIP hospitality areas?
In an effort to enhance your experience, please observe the following rules in the VIP hospitality areas:
- Each guest must have their own lanyard and display it at all times.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times
- Children in 7th grade or higher are considered recruitable under NCAA Guidelines and therefore must have their own lanyard to enter the VIP Hospitality Area.
- We kindly ask that all food & beverages be consumed in the VIP Hospitality Area.
I am a Grand Club member and qualify for men's basketball pre-game hospitality. Can I bring guests into hospitality with me?
If you have a special guest whom you would like to introduce to the benefits associated with being a donor, please contact Kerry Boznanski at (949) 824-5550 or kboznans@uci.edu. In order to make appropriate accommodations, please notify Kerry of your request at least 48 hours prior to the game.
Do children need a pass to gain access to hospitality if their parents are with them and have passes?
Children under the age of 13 do not need a pass. Children over the age of 13 do need a pass as they are considered by the NCAA a "recruitable student-athlete". If they do not have a pass, they are viewed by the NCAA as receiving an "extra benefit" and therefore could create an NCAA violation for the UCI Athletic Department and harm their own eligibility in the future.
Can I rent the Newkirk Pavilion for events or baseball games?
Yes. Please contact Kerry Boznanski at (949) 824-5550 for details.
How can I get tickets or become a sponsor for the Scholar-Athlete Banquet?
Please contact Kerry Boznanski at (949) 824-5550.
Parking:
Where can I park for UCI sporting events?
For all Athletic events, parking is available in the Mesa Parking Structure. A one-day general parking pass is $10 and may be purchased as you enter the structure at the parking kiosk. Parking permits are required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in campus parking structures and lots. California-state vehicles (E-plates) and buses do not require parking permits to park. Spectators must purchase parking permits from either a lot attendant or a permit dispenser. For more information, please visit http://www.parking.uci.edu/.
