Our top priority is to provide UCI student-athletes with opportunities to reach their full potential; both athletically and academically. Your generosity enhances the experiences of our student-athletes and is a major source of funding for the department's operational needs. The Anteater Athletic Fund (AAF) is a critical component for our annual operating budget. In the face of escalating scholarship and operating costs, UCI Athletics' reliance on private support increases each year. Your annual gifts to the Anteater Athletic Fund play a critical role in the success of all 18 intercollegiate teams. These unrestricted funds are used to assist with department-wide needs including scholarships, program operation needs and capital improvements. We must continue to keep moving forward in our quest towards becoming the best Mid-Major institution in the country. In order to achieve this goal, a greater focus must be placed on fundraising initiatives. UCI's 'Shaping the Future' campaign aims to raise $1 billion dollars for the university by 2015. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is 'Shaping the Future' by educating tomorrow's leaders and building on its foundation of excellence. The department will focus its efforts on raising $20 million dollars over the duration of this campaign providing the funds necessary for 1) capital improvement projects 2) programs & equipment 3) scholarships. Our fundraising efforts throughout this campaign will provide student-athletes and coaches with the tools necessary to succeed and compete at the highest level possible. UC Irvine Athletics has the ability to bring together faculty, students, alumni, staff, and the surrounding community to celebrate the great institution of UC Irvine.
