Community Outreach Programs
Reading can be Magical
There are so many rewards from reading!
The Big West Conference and Old Spaghetti Factory have teamed up to create the rewards of reading program. Technology has taken over and as a result has deterred children from reading more. Reading is vital in learning and here at UC Irvine we recognize the importance of promoting literacy. As a member of the Big West Conference, we are embracing this program because it provides positive reinforcement and offers double the incentive. Every child who reads five books will win a free Kid's Meal from the Old Spaghetti Factory and a ticket to a UCI Basketball game.
iPlay
Connecting student-athletes to elementary age children by playing games!
Here at UC Irvine all of our athletes love to play sports. Although there are rewards to healthy competition we have found that playing in general builds confidence, fosters teamwork, inspires imagination and motivates children to be healthy and active. Our goal is to connect UCI student-athletes with elementary school children through exercise and activity for fun or recreational purposes. Whether it's a structured Physical Education program or recess, we are more than willing to tailor the program to meet the needs of both the school and students.
If you think your child's school would be interested in partnering with us please contact our office at (949) 824-6120
