How are group assignments made?
Camper groups are assigned based on age and ability level.
Where do I park when I drop off/pick up my child? Do I have to pay for parking?
Parking information will be given in your camp confirmation e-mail. Parents receive complimentary 15 minute parking at Mesa Parking Structure.
When is the full camp payment due?
Full payment is due one week before the camp begins. If you registered online, you can log into your account and pay the remaining balance. Mail or phone payments are also accepted. Check payable to "UC Regents". Send payment to UC Irvine Athletics, Crawford Hall, CYP Office, Irvine, CA 92697-4500. Be sure to include the camper's name on the check.
What are general camp rules?
- Respect other participants, instructors, facilities and equipment.
- Always listen to staff/instructor. Show consideration when teacher and others are speaking.
- Teasing and put-downs are not tolerated.
- No cursing.
- Stay with your assigned group.
- Keep the camp area clean. Throw your trash away.
- No weapons allowed.
What happens when camper needs to leave camp early?
Camper must present a written note to include camper’s name, time and date the camper needs to leave, permission to leave by himself/herself, if applicable and signature of parent/guardian.
Camp Specific
All Sports
Does my child need to know how to play every sport?
No, the counselors will teach campers how to play each sport and provide guidance. The All-Sports Camp is a non competitive camp so the emphasis is on creating a positive learning experience by having fun.
What should I pack for camp?
Campers should bring snacks, sunscreen, water bottle and sports bag/backpack. Camper should bring swimsuit and towel if going swimming. All items should be marked with the camper's name.
Basketball
Does my child need to bring his own basketball ball?
Basketballs will be provided. Each participant will also receive a free basketball at the end of camp.
What kind of shoes should my child wear?
Campers should wear athletic shoes that will not mark the gym floor. No black-bottom shoes.
Baseball
Are baseball gloves and bats provided?
There will be some equipment for loan, but your own equipment is recommended.
Does my child need baseball cleats and pants?
It is recommended that your child have the right gear, however, any comfortable shoes and clothing will be fine.
Golf
Does golf camp take place on campus?
On Fridays, the camp will play a 9-hole course at the Hyatt Newporter Backbay in Newport Beach..
Do campers need to bring their own equipment?
Campers should bring their own clubs however, limited equipment are available for loan.
Rowing
Where is the rowing camp held?
The UC Irvine Boathouse is located on Shellmaker Island on the Newport Backbay off Jamboree Road.
Soccer
What equipment is required?
Campers MUST bring a soccer ball. Shin guards and cleats are recommended.
Swimming
What is the skill level of the camp?
Camp is for competitive swimmers with club and team experience. Camp is for children who already know how to swim.
Does my child need to wear a swim cap?
Swim cap is not required but recommended.
What should I pack for camp?
Swimsuit, towel, goggles, and sports bag/backpack. Residential campers should pack toiletries. It is not necessary to pack fins, buoys and paddles. Equipment is provided.
Tennis
Do you have to bring your own racket?
Campers must have their own racket. Tennis balls will be provided.
Track and Field
Is there any equipment required for camp?
The camp gives an introduction to all the areas of track and field. Personal equipment is not necessary.
What does the track meet on the last day consist of?
The track meet allows campers to be competitive in a fun environment. Campers complete in a variety of events and parents are highly encouraged to attend.
Volleyball
Is volleyball camp held indoors or outdoors?
Volleyball camp is primarily held in Crawford gym and there are sessions held outdoors on grass courts on Crawford field.
What should I pack for camp?
T-shirt, shorts, athletic shoes (no black soles), water bottle, knee pads if you have them, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses.
Overnight Camps
What does my child need to bring as a resident camper?
A complete packing list will be provided prior to the camp start date. The dorms do provide each camper with one pillowcase, two sheets, one blanket, one towel, and one wash cloth.
What is the supervision like in the dorms?
Camp counselors will stay in the dorms with campers. They will be supervised at all times.
Are the dorms co-ed?
The dorms are co-ed, but the rooms are not. Girls will be paired together based on age. Boys will be paired together based on age.
