The University of California, Irvine is an NCAA Division I member institution which proudly competes in the Big West Conference. As an NCAA member institution, the UCI athletic department is governed by NCAA rules and regulations, which are continuously evolving. The role of the Compliance Office at UCI is to assist a wide variety of individuals such as prospective student-athletes, UCI athletics representatives (boosters), enrolled student-athletes, and the UCI coaching and administrative staff, in educating, understanding, and interpreting such rules.
