IRVINE, Calif. -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, UC Irvine Athletics will host "Think Pink" games in the month of February.
Baseball, women's basketball, men's volleyball and women's water polo will all participate Feb. 21-25.
Men's basketball kicked off the festivities on Feb. 8 as head coach Russell Turner's mother, Dr. Betty Shepherd, a breast cancer survivor, was honored in a pre-game ceremony.
Think Pink Adidas Climalite wristbands will be available at each game for a minimum $2 donation. All proceeds will be donated to the UC Irvine Breast Health Center.
The UC Irvine Breast Health Center is one of only 20 accredited breast centers in California dedicated to the comprehensive care, multidisciplinary team approach to coordinating the best treatment options, and patient access to ongoing information about clinic trials and new treatment options.
Anteater teams will be sporting pink gear and all fans are encouraged to join in and wear pink as well.
Think Pink Week is a yearlong commitment from UC Irvine Athletics. A similar round of events were held in the month of October.
