Feb. 25, 2010

UCI student-athletes and coaches answer the following question:

If you were a Winter Olympian what sport would you do?

Joel Bagby - Men's Soccer

Curling - It's all about precision

Stephen Carveth - Men's Soccer

Snowboard Cross - I love to compete with groups of people that tests my snowboarding skill and determination to win.

Cortney Collyer - Women's Water Polo

Bobsled

D.J. Crumlich - Baseball

Hockey - It's my favorite sport to watch.

Austin D'Amore - Men's Volleyball

Curling - I love the strategy. I think it is more mental than physical.

Jordan DuFault - Men's Volleyball

Curling or Bobsled - They are extreme

Mike Edles - Head Women's Tennis Coach

Curling - I'd like to be the sweeper

Breeanca Fleming - Women's Track & Field

Short Track Speed Skating - They go fast and it's the closest thing to running.

Derick Flowers - Men's Basketball

Figure skating, Pairs - I think it is really beautiful.

Nikki Forrest - Women's Soccer

Speed skating - It is really competitive and looks fun.

Jordan Fox - Baseball

Caitlin Haskell - Women's Water Polo

Biathlon

John Hurst - Baseball

Short track speed skating - Because of the incredible adrenaline rush.

Dan Klatt - Women's Water Polo Head Coach

Curling - No question. I'm going to be a curling Olympian one day. I don't know where there is a curling club around here but I'm going to find it.

Stevie Mersola - Women's Soccer

Snowboard - I already snowboard and have more many years. Besides soccer it is my favorite hobby and I am pretty good at it. I also feel that it is the most fun to watch on television.

Alisha Misiaita - Women's Track & Field

Bobsled - I love Cool Runnings, but considering I don't know how to drive any sort of vehicle I'll be in the back.

Shaun O'Meara - Men's Golf

Snowboard halfpipe - I have grown up snowboarding and that would be the most natural, but Curling is the most amazing sport I've ever seen in my life.

Hillary Packard - Women's Golf

Downhill skiing - The thrill of the speed. It is intense how fast they go.

Lalita Patipaksiri - Women's Golf

Figure Skating - I used to figure skate. I'd just do the Ladies competition because I wouldn't want to be responsible for cutting someone open with my blade in pairs.

Kari Pestolesi & Ashley Bosza - Women's Volleyball

Snowboard Halfpipe - We both agree that we would want to snowboard so we could get the opportunity to run our hands through Shaun White's hair.

Kelsi Sando - Women's Track & Field

Speed Skating - I'm already good at running circles and love the competitiveness.

Brandon Scott - Men's Basketball

Bobsleding - To go fast

Pat Shine - Associate Head Baseball Coach

Skeleton - It's all about having no fear

Taylor Smith - Women's Volleyball

Skeleton - It would be fun and risky to fly down a track head first.

Jade Smith-Williams - Women's Basketball

Bobsled - I just watched Cool Runnings so I'd try to figure out a way to compete for Jamaica.

Lauren Spinazee - Women's Basketball

Halfpipe snowboarding - It would be thrilling to get that much air and do tricks.

Tanya Taylor - Women's Soccer

Figure Skating - I am graceful.

Trevor Wightman - Men's Track & Field

Short Track Speed Skating - It is fast paced with lots of technique and it's a smooth race.

Kevin Welch - Men's Volleyball

Ski Jumping - The views must be spectacular. It's as close to flying without wings as you can get.

Mike Wilder - Men's Basketball

Curling - I think curling looks fun. I want to be the guy that is out front brushing.
