UC Irvine Finishes 65th Overall In Learfield Sports Directors' Cup

Irvine, Calif. - UC Irvine, which just completed one of its most successful years in NCAA Division I history, finished No. 65 overall and No. 2 among Division I-AAA schools in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced Monday. UC Irvine recorded 315.30 points and finished behind Denver (396.50) among Division I-AAA (non-football schools). The Anteaters have finished in the nation's top 5 in that category each of the last three years. UCI was also the highest ranked Big West Conference school and the fifth-best California university overall, behind Stanford, USC, California and UCLA.
The Anteaters earned 100 points for their men's volleyball NCAA Championship, 64 for men's soccer advancing to the NCAA round of 16, 52 for a 22nd-place finish by women's golf at the NCAA Championships, 50 for a NCAA Regional appearance in baseball and 9.3 for the NCAA West Regional finish by men's golf. In addition, Randall Tom earned UCI 40 points for his performance at the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships.
