Washington State Women, Wyoming Men Win UC Irvine/Ayres Sprint Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. - The Washington State women and Wyoming men won the UC Irvine/Ayres Hotels Sprint Invitational Saturday afternoon at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
Washington State held off Pac-10 rival UCLA winning with 503 points to 494 for the Bruins for their second straight UCI/Ayres Sprint Invitational victory. The Wyoming men had 695 points beating host UCI by 80 points to win their second ever Sprint Invite title after winning it in 2002.
Jasmin Jahanshahi of UCLA won the 100 back (57.66), the 200 IM (2:06.96) and the 200 back (2:04.39) on the day. Natasha Menezes of BYU won the 200 free with a time of 1:52.06. Elyse Peterson of Washington State won the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.96. Michaela Ahlin of WSU won the 200 fly (2:05.49) and the 100 fly (57.09). Rugile Mileisyte of Wazzu won the 100 free with a time of 52.79. Kayleen Hicks of Pepperdine won the 200 breast with a time of 2:23.99. Cassie Stelow of Wyoming won the 50 free with a time of 24.43.
On the men’s side, Anteater senior Randall Tom (Wailuku, Hawaii/Seabury Hall) won the 100 back (50.09), the 50 breast, the 100 fly (48.10) and the 50 fly. Senior Nate Rogers (Albuquerque, N.M./California) of UCI won the 100 free with a time of 47.19. Junior ‘Eater Chris Rosales (Diamond Bar/Valencia HS) won the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.23. UCI sophomore Garrett Thompson (Stockton/Lincoln HS) and UCI senior Will Wollam tied for the win the 50 free with matching times of 21.42. Eli Bell of Wyoming won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.28. Brandon Fischer of Wyoming won the 100 breast with his time of 58.23. Matt Jaukovic of Sydney University won the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.94. Marshall Dilworth of Wyoming won both the 200 IM (1:58.61) and the 200 back (1:55.70).
The UC Irvine/Ayres Invitationals conclude Sunday with the Relay and Diving Invitationals each starting at 10:00 a.m. at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
