UC Irvine Men, Nebraska Women Win UC Irvine/Ayres Relay Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men and the Nebraska women won the UC Irvine/Ayres Hotels Relay Invitational Sunday afternoon at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
The Anteaters dominated the men’s event with 652 points, second place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps had 189 points. The Huskers held off defending champion San Jose State with 423 points to the Spartans 400 points.
The UCI men won all 10 relay events held during the event to win the Relay Invitational for the second straight year and fifth time overall. The Nebraska women won seven of the 10 events with SJSU winning the remaining three events. Nebraska set new meet records in the 200 free relay (1:36.16) and the 400 free relay (3:29.62).
The UC Irvine men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will return to action Saturday, January 24th as they host Cal Baptist and UC San Diego in a double-dual meet 12:00 p.m. at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
