Anteaters Sweep UC San Diego, Cal Baptist

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's and women's swimming & diving teams defeated both UC San Diego and Cal Baptist Saturday afternoon at Canyonview Aquatic Complex. The Anteater men defeated UC San Diego 213-85 and Cal Baptist 156.4-143.5. The women beat UCSD 167.5-124.5 and CBU 183-114. UCI won seven of the 17 men's events on the day. Senior Eddie Erazo took first in all three of his individual events the 200 fly (1:49.35). the 200 back (1:49.90) and the 500 free (4:36.31). Freshman diver Miles Smith won both the three-meter (313.95) and the one-meter (306.53) diving competitions. Sophomore Will Wollam won the 100 fly (51.04) and UCI won the 400 medley relay (3:23.38). On the women's side, UCI won 10 events. Sophomore Lyndsay DePaul won the 200 fly (1:59.64), the 200 breast (2:16.32) and the 200 back (2:02.80). Senior Tanya Nielsen won the 50 free (24.60) and the 100 free (53.26). Freshman Chelsea Greene won both the 100 fly (58.18) and the 200 IM (2:12.52). Junior diver Rachel Pearson won the three-meter diving competition (249.23). Freshman Ann Tsuchiya won the 500 free with a time of 5:04.41. The Anteaters also won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:56.10. The Anteaters will next compete Friday as they host Big West rival Cal State Northridge at 1:00 p.m. at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
