Anteaters Swept at UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's and women's swimming & diving teams each lost at UC Davis Saturday afternoon at Schaal Aquatics Center. The men lost 161-128 and the women fell 175-123.
The Anteater women won eight individual events on the day. Sophomore Ann Tsuchiya (South Pasadena/Mayfield HS) won both the 1000 free (10:33.01) and the 500 free (5:09.08). Freshman Michelle Teets (Austin, Texas) won both the 100 back (59.67) and the 200 back (2:10.49). Junior Jessica Schlitz (Turlock HS) won both the 200 fly (2:04.11) and the 100 fly (57.17). The Anteaters swept the diving events with junior Melanie Grosvenor (Mission Viejo HS) winning the three-meter (337.65) and freshman Carissa Lewis (San Clemente HS) winning the one-meter (278.10).
On the men's side, UCI won four events. The 'Eaters swept the diving competitions with sophomore Miles Smith (Carmichael/Capital Christian HS) winning the one-meter (339.45) and junior Eric Nugent (Whittier/La Serna HS) winning the three-meter (338.33). Freshman Julian Lawrence (La Cañada HS) won the 500 free (4:52.66). Senior Will Wollam (Riverside/Rubidoux HS) won the 100 fly (49.75).
The Anteaters will now turn their attention to the Big West Conference Championships starting Wednesday, February 25th at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach.
