LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's swimming & diving team is in second place following day three and the men are in third place at the Big West Conference Championships at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.

The women have 436 points behind first place UCSB who has 632 points. The UCI men have 394 points and are behind UCSB with 611 points and UC Davis with 456 points.

Sophomore Lyndsay DePaul set a new meet record and new UCI record with her NCAA `A' cut time of 4:11.68 in the 400 IM. Senior Chelsea Nagata won the 100 fly with an NCAA `A' cut time of 53.20. She has won the 100 fly all four seasons of her UCI career. Nagata also won the 100 back with an `A' cut time of 54.14 to set a new UCI record. Senior diver Jackie Jones won the 3-meter diving title for the fourth straight season with a score of 286.94.

Senior Tanya Nielsen had the top UCI time in the 200 free with her sixth place finishing time of 1:51.85. Sophomore Jessica Schlitz had the best time in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.98.


 

 

On the men's side, senior Eddie Erazo won the 100 fly with a NCAA `B' cut time of 47.60. Erazo won the 100 back with a Big West Championship record time and UCI record time of 47.98. Sophomore Chris Rosales finished 4th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:02.21. Rosales took 4th in the 100 breast with a time of 56.71. Nate Rogers took 9th in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.87.  

The Big West Championships will conclude Saturday with prelims starting at 10:30 a.m. and finals starting at 6:00 p.m. at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.
