IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Eddie Erazo (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS) was named the 2008 Big West Conference Athlete of the Year Wednesday.

Erazo won the 100 back, 100 fly and 200 fly at the Big West Championships. He set a new conference meet record in the 100 backstroke with a time of of 47.98.

Erazo is qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second straight season in all three events. He was named Big West Athlete of the Week twice this season and is a 10-time Big West Champion.

This is the fifth time a UCI athlete has won the award and the second straight season as Randall Tom won the award last season.
