Eddie Erazo named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American second team

IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Eddie Erazo (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic-All-American second team Tuesday. Erazo became eligible for the team by being named to the ESPN the Magazine District VIII All-Academic first team. Erazo earned All-American honors after finishing 8th in the 200 fly at the 2008 NCAA Championships. He was the 2008 UCI Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a four-time UCI scholar-athlete. He holds three UCI school records and is a member of two UCI record holding relay teams. Erazo is an 11-time Big West Champion and was All-Big West in 15 events during his career. Erazo won a silver medal in the 200 fly at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He finished sixth in the 200 fly at the 2006 U.S. National Championships. Erazo is the second UCI swimmer to earn Academic All-American honors and first since 1997 when Omar Amr was named to the Academic All-American first team.
