Sky Johnston Finishes Second in 5,000 at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Sky Johnston placed second in his section of the 5,000 meters at the Stanford University Invitational Friday. Johnson ran a career-best 14:28.04 to finish runner-up to Grand Valley State's Nick Polk, who recorded a time of 14:26.23. UCI freshman Madeline Leduc finished seventh in her section of the long jump with a mark of 17-5 ¼. Sophomore Tim Murphy placed seventh in his section of the 800 meters with his top time of the season at 1:51.70. Senior Tim Hearst just missed an NCAA regional-qualifying time as he finished ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a season-best 9:08.69. The meet concludes Saturday.
