IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine junior Samantha Costantini was a double-winner in the Big West Challenge Cup at Anteater Stadium Friday.

She won the 800 meters in 2:13.54 and captured first place in the 1500 meters with a meet-record time of 4:29.78.

Sophomore Alisha Misiaita won the shot put with a mark of 50-1 ¾ and she was fifth in the hammer throw at 148-0.

Second-place finishes were recorded by Elaine Gillespie in the 800 (2:15.84), Megan Fairley in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:21.37) and Madeline Leduc in the triple jump (38-7 ½).

Fairley's steeplechase time is fourth-best in UCI history while Leduc improved on her No. 5 mark in the triple jump.

The Anteater women finished third in the meet with 141 points as Long Beach State was first with 221 points and Cal State Fullerton second with 170.

In the men's competition, sophomore Tim Murphy won the 800 meters in 1:52.78 and sophomore Napoleon Greene placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.55.

Senior Dayne Comrie finished second in the 400 meters with an NCAA regional-qualifying time of 46.91, which ranks fourth all-time at UCI.

Tim Hearst finished second in the 1500 meters (3:53.93) and Matt Lahti was second in the hammer throw at 174-1.

 

 

UCI finished second in the team scoring with 153 points as Long Beach State also won the men's title with 231 points.
