Plattner Qualifies for Big West Meet in 2 Events

AZUSA, Calif. --- Sophomore Oliver Plattner turned in a pair of Big West Conference qualifying times at the Azusa Pacific Invitational Friday.
Plattner had times of 10.84 in the 100 meters (10th of 59) and 48.88 in the 400 meters (12th of 51) to qualify for the conference meet at Northridge May 11-12. He qualified in the 200 meters earlier this season.
Junior Jamie Schwab qualified for the Big West meet in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.88 to finish fourth. Freshman Alisha Misiata finished third in the shot put with a mark of 45-11 1/4.
Junior Nicole Dickerson finished 12th of 42 in the 200 meters with a time of 12.42, just off the Big West qualifying mark of 12.39. Sophomore Natasha Wardley finished sixth in the long jump at 18-0 ½ while senior Ashlee Marshell was 10th at 17-6. Wardley placed seventh in the triple jump at 35-11 1/2 and Tayler Cusick was 11th at 33-7 1/2.
Matt Linder placed 10th in the 200 meters (22.23), Mike Navarro finished 10th in the triple jump at 45-9 and Matt Lahti was 10th in the discus throw with a mark of 146-8.
At the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut Friday, junior Laura Olvera finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:21.06 while junior teammate Sara Mickelson was ninth in 17:42.65. Senior Ricky Barnes finished third in his section of the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:46.92. Junior Tim Hearst finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:10.28 and junior Sky Johnston was seventh in 9:10.66. Hearst won his section of the 800 meters in 1:55.55 to place 12th overall.
