LA JOLLA, Calif. --- UC Irvine sophomore Matt Lahti improved on his No. 5 mark in school history with a throw of 180-9 in the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego Saturday.

His mark was an improvement by over six feet on his previous best as he finished 11th in the 46-competitor field. Kelley Hall (156-11) and Jimmy Kearney (155-5) placed 23rd and 24th, respectively.

Senior Eric Nyberg finished third in the javelin throw with a career-best mark of 187-5.
