Julian Eison Finishes 5th in High Jump at NCAA West Regional

EUGENE, Ore. --- UC Irvine junior Julian Eison finished fifth in the high jump Saturday at the NCAA Track & Field West Regional to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships at Sacramento June 6-9.
The top five finishers in each event at the regional qualify for the national meet. Eison cleared 6-11 in Saturday's competition at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. California's Ed Wright won the high jump at 7-3 ¼ and UCI senior Jon Wratten placed 11th at 6-9.
Anteater senior Ricky Barnes finished sixth in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:46.71 and has a strong chance of receiving an at-large berth in the nationals, according to UCI head coach Vince O'Boyle.
Junior Tim Hearst finished 17th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:11.04 and junior Sky Johnston was 19th in 9:16.14.
Sophomore Lauren Collins qualified for the NCAA Championships earlier this season in the heptathlon.
