Eight UCI Student-Athletes Set to Compete at NCAA West Regional

UCI SENDS TO 8 TO REGIONAL: Eight UC Irvine student-athletes have qualified for the NCAA Track & Field West Regional May 25-26 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
UCI's regional qualifiers are senior Ricky Barnes (1500 meters and 5,000 meters), juniors Sky Johnston and Tim Hearst in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, freshman Napoleon Greene (400-meter hurdles), senior Jon Wratten and junior Julian Eison in the high jump, sophomore Lauren Collins in the high jump and freshman Alisha Misiata in the shot put.
Collins has automatically qualified in the heptathlon for the NCAA Championships in Sacramento June 6-9. She scored a school-record 5,512 points to win the Big West heptathlon May 5-6. Collins also holds the UCI records in the high jump (5-11 ¼) and the 100-meter hurdles (13.96).
Misiata set the school record in the shot put at the Big West meet with a mark of 47-10. The top five regional finishers in each event automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
