USA Track & Field 

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine's Lauren Collins and Golde Ibia will compete this week in the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Collins, who will be a senior at UCI next season, competes in the high jump Thursday (June 25) beginning at 5:00 p.m. She broke her own school record in winning the event at the Big West Conference Championships with a mark of 6-1 ¼.

The top three finishers in each event at Eugene will earn a spot on the USA team for the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany this August.

Ibia, who recently finished her freshman season at UCI, is competing in the 100-meter hurdles at the USA Junior Championships in Eugene. She holds the school record of 13.67 that she ran at the NCAA West Regional in Eugene May 29.

The first round of the hurdles is Friday (June 26) at 2:40 p.m. with the final at 7:00 p.m.

The top two finishers in each event of the Junior Championships will gain a spot on the USA team for the 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, which will be held at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad July 31-Aug. 2.
