Three from UC Irvine Named to All-Academic Track & Field Team

IRVINE, Calif. --- Three UC Irvine student-athletes have been named to the 2007 All-Academic Track & Field Team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Senior Ricky Barnes and junior Sky Johnston were selected to the men's team while sophomore Lauren Collins was named to the women's team. Recipients had to maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and record an NCAA automatic or provisional-qualifying mark for the recent NCAA Championships. Collins finished 14th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships. Barnes was 17th of 27 runners in the preliminaries of the 1,500 meters at the national meet and Johnston placed 19th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Regional.
