Former UC Irvine Track Coach Kevin McNair Passes Away

He coached the Anteater men's program from 1979-84

IRVINE, Calif. --- Former UC Irvine men's track and field head coach Kevin McNair passed away July 10.

McNair, 59, guided the Anteater program from 1979-84, leading UCI to three consecutive runner-up finishes in the Pacific Coast Athletic Association Championships (1981, 1982 and 1983). Seventeen of his student-athletes won PCAA individual titles during his tenure. McNair was named PCAA Coach of the Year in 1981.

He is survived by his children, Mike and Patricia, and two grandchildren. Graveside services will be held this Friday (July 18) at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. Saddleback Chapel, Tustin is assisting the family. Information: (714) 544-1450.
