UC Irvine Competes at Stanford Invitational Saturday

IRVINE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's and women's cross country teams return to action Saturday (Sept. 26) at the 36th edition of the Stanford University Invitational.
The men's 8,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 10:50 a.m. and the women's 6,000 meters at 11:30 a.m. on the Stanford Golf Course.
The team spent the past week training at Mammoth following the season-opening Asics/UCI Invitational Sept. 12.
The Anteater men's team finished fourth and the women's squad ninth in the invitational at the Anteater Recreation Center Field.
Sophomore Rex Nelson paced the Anteater men with a fourth-place showing in the 213-runner field with a time of 25:23.80 over 8,000 meters. Redshirt freshman Melissa Mead led the Anteater women's team with a 19th-place finish of 18:19.90 over the 5,000-meter course.
