Olvera Earns Big West Honor Again

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine junior Laura Olvera has been named the Big West Conference Athlete of the Week in women's cross country. Olvera finished ninth of 322 runners with a time of 21:13.0 over 6,000 meters at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., last Saturday. Her showing helped the Anteaters to a fourth-place finish in the field of 41 teams. This is the third time Olvera has earned the award this season. She shared this week's honor with UC Santa Barbara's Bethany Nickless and Long Beach State's Sarah Apgar. The UCI men's and women's teams compete Friday in the Titan Invitational at Cal State Fullerton.
