LEAGUE MEET AT SLO: The UC Irvine cross country teams compete in the Big West Conference Championships Saturday at San Luis Obispo.

Site of the meet is the Fairbanks Memorial Course at Cuesta College. The men's 8,000-meter race is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. with the women's 6,000 meters at 9:55 a.m.

Both Anteater teams finished third at last year's meet. Junior Laura Olvera and senior Sara Mickelson placed 2-3 in the '06 championship.

Junior Candice Proctor was a redshirt last year after finishing 11th at the 2005 conference meet.

Junior Nick Mosey and senior Sky Johnston are the top returnees for the men's squad after finishing 13th and 30th, respectively, last year.

UCI MEN FINISH 2ND AT TITAN INVITATIONAL: The UCI men's team finished second in the Titan Invitational last Friday on the Cal State Fullerton campus. UCLA won the meet with 15 points and the Anteaters followed with 74.

UCI's Brian Brierly finished 14th in 26:31, Tim Murphy was 19th in 27:12 and Solomon Tesfaye placed 25th in 27:28. Rory Mahony was 29th (27:46) and Kareem Barghouti 39th in 28:38.

The Anteater women's team finished fifth with 138 points as Orange Coast College won the meet with 55 points. UCI's Megan Fairley finished 10th in 18:56, Shelby Pock was 30th (19:46), Jessica Vaughan 40th (20:05), Nicole Alai 74th (22:02) and Corrina Carter 90th (24:45).

UCI WOMEN'S TEAM 9TH IN REGION: The UCI women's squad is ranked ninth in the West Region this week.
