UC Irvine Defeats Rikkyo University in Exhibition Game

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine defeated Rikkyo University, 11-4 in an exhibition game Tuesday at Cicerone Field at Anteater Ballpark.

The Anteaters were led by Tommy Reyes, who went 3 for 3 with three RBI while Jonathan Hurst also added three hits and two RBI. Ryan Fisher totaled three hits and an RBI for hte Anteater offense.

Starter Nick Hoover pitched two innings, striking out one while allowing one run on one hit. Ruben Orozco made his first appearance for the Anteaters on the mound in the Rikkyo eighth, scattering two hits while Andrew Bynum pitched the ninth, yielding a run on two hits.

Rikkyo, which used wood bats, was led by Daisuke Kobayashi, who drove in three runs while going 2 for 3. Soichiro Tanaka went 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Pitcher Keisuke Igeta gave up eight runs on 10 hits in the start. Ryousuke Kontani gave Rikkyo the longest stint on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings and giving up a run on seven hits.
