NEW ORLEANS, LA --- Ollie Linton and Francis Larson combined for four RBI and Christian Bergman pitched six innings of scoreless baseball to lead 13th-ranked UC Irvine to a 5-1 win over No. 22 Tulane Sunday at Turchin Stadium. The victory gave UCI the series win as the Anteaters climbed to 10-1 overall while Tulane fell to 8-5 overall.

Bergman struck out three and walked three while holding the Green Wave to five hits for his second win (2-0) of the season. After giving up back-to-back singles in the Tulane first, Bergman retired the next three in order to get out of the inning unscathed. The Green Wave loaded the bases with two outs in the fifth but Aaron Rodgers grounded out Eric Deragisch for the third out.

Larson staked UC Irvine to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, sending a 1-0 pitch over the left-field wall for his first home run of the season.

The Anteaters struck again in the fifth, putting runners on first and third with no outs for outfielder Dillon Bell, whose sacrifice bunt on the safety squeeze scored Sean Madigan. Linton punched a single through the right side to plate Deragisch from second and give UCI a 4-0 edge.

Linton delivered again in the top of the seventh with a single to right to score Madigan, who led off the inning with a single.

Linton was 2 for 5 while Larson finished the day 1 for 4. Madigan was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Jeff Cusick also added a pair of hits.

Tulane designated hitter Aaron Rodgers marred UCI's shutout effort with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth off reliever Matt Dufour.

Tom Calahan retired two Tulane batters to end the eighth and closer Eric Pettis retired the side in order in the ninth.

Tulane starter Robby Broach fell to 1-1 after giving up five urns on seven hits in 6.2 innings. Catcher Jared Dyer paced the offense with a 3 for 4 performance at the plate.
