LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- UC Irvine recorded a season-high 18 runs on 26 hits in an 18-1 non-conference win over Loyola Marymount Wednesday at George C. Page Stadium. The win lifted UCI to 34-14 overall while dropping the Lions to 22-30.

Every Anteater starter had at least one hit with outfielder Sean Madigan leading the team with a career-high five hits, going 5 for 6 with two RBI and two runs scored. Brock Bardeen topped the team with three RBI on 3 for 5 hitting while Francis Larson added three hits. Ollie Linton and Ben Orloff each posted two RBI and two hits. The Anteater bench also got into the act as Christian Florido singled for his first collegiate hit. Sammy Donabedian was 1 for 2 while Tyler Hoechlin went 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Ryan Fisher, pinch-hitting for Larson, drove in two with a double.

Noel Avison earned his first Division I win to improve to 1-0, hurling a season-high four innings while striking out three and holding the Lions to just two hits. Starter Matt Dufour allowed a run on one hit while walking three in three innings of work and Cole Hathcock and Chris Lopez each pitched a shutout inning for the Anteaters.

Ryan Wheeler put LMU on the board in the bottom of the second with a solo home run but UC Irvine tied the game on Orloff's sacrifice fly to score Eric Deragisch.

Madigan led off the fourth with a triple to right-center and was cashed in on Josh Tavelli's double. Deragisch's grounder to short plated Bardeen and Linton's RBI single gave UCI a 4-1 edge. With one out in the inning, Lion reliever Lee Roberts walked the next two batters to load the bases for Larson, who hit a bouncer to third. Third baseman Michael Glomb threw home in time to get Linton on the fielder's choice but the umpire ruled interference for the third out.

The Anteaters tacked on a run in the fifth and the seventh and broke open the game with 11 runs in the eighth. UCI hit for the cycle in the inning, started by a Stevenson leadoff home run, his third of the season. Following four consecutive singles, Bardeen hit a two-run triple, driving in a pair of runs. Hoechlin continued the inning with a single and Donabedian belted a double off the left-field wall. Donabedian's double was the first of four in the inning as Orloff, Fisher and Madigan each came up with a double in the frame. The Anteaters matched a season-high with six on the day.

Lion pitcher Lee Roberts fell to 2-4 with the loss. Starter Mike Kenny pitched 2.2 innings, allowing a run on five hits. Wheeler led the team, batting 3 for 4 with a run batted in.
