Arizona State Head Coach Pat Murphy
(opening statement): "I had a feeling today would come down to one run. Again we didn't get out of the gate early. Immediately people will look at (relief pitcher Jason) Jarvis. He's been unbelievable this year. He just didn't have his extra gear today. He wasn't as sharp as he's been. The depth of our pitching staff was exposed today. We got it where we wanted. The bases loaded with one out and didn't get it done. We have to give UC-Irvine credit. They play with a tremendous amount of energy. They're a team of destiny. It was a great season. We finished in the top 12 in the country six of the last 12 years."

(about relief pitcher Jason Jarvis): "Jarvis has done that - loaded the bases and struck out the side - many times this season. It's very unusual what happened tonight."

(about how Brett Wallace is feeling after the game): "He's struggling. He was the player of the year in the district, and he had a tough series. He's very disappointed he didn't play better in the series. He's a strong kid. He carried us much of the year."

(about comparing this year's team to the 2005 ASU team): "As I said earlier, UC-Irvine is kind of like our '05 team. They're scrappy. They play a different kind of game. They do anything."

Arizona State SS Andrew Romine
(about the emotions after tonight's game): "I'm still a little bit excited. I was here in '05 and know what it's like to be so close. I'm excited for the guys for next year. It's a very young team. I'm as proud as I can be for them. You can't be disappointed. We did everything we could."

Arizona State 2B Eric Sogard
(about tonight's game): "We just gave them a few opportunities, and they took advantage of them That cost us throughout the year. I hope that they let the disappointment go quickly and get it going quickly next year."

UC Irvine Head Coach Dave Serrano
(opening statement): "I don't know if I have words to describe what just happened tonight. I do know that the Anteaters do not want to take their uniforms off yet. We've had seven victories in the postseason and each one keeps getting better."

(about the eighth inning rally): "Everyone looks to the last guy that gets the hit. Our pinch hitters took some good at-bats. We're making great at-bats when it's really on the line."

(about the fan support in the stadium): "These guys are so deserving of this. It's a tribute to these guys. We've played three games here and I don't think I've ever been a part of any games like this. We don't want this to stop."

UC Irvine CF Ollie Linton
(about his game winning hit): "Before I went to bat coach (Serrano) told me that I would be the guy to do it. I walked to the plate with positive thoughts. I was looking for something high and in. I got a curve ball high and I fought through it for the hit."

UC Irvine 2B Cody Cipriano
(about the interference call): "I saw Maddie (Sean Madigan) hit that ball in the gap. I got a great jump on the ball. Once I get going I can't stop. I knew all I could do was grab onto coach's (Sergio Brown) jersey to stop myself. I knew that play wouldn't hurt our chances to win the game."
