IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine head coach Mike Gillespie will be among 14 coaches to participate in the Easton Southern California Baseball Media Day Friday, Jan. 22 at the ESPN Zone in Anaheim. The event combines the annual media day with the ESPN Zone Anaheim Baseball Coaches Cooking Challenge which is in its second season.

Baseball coaches from the Southern California region and the Central Coast will take part in a contest to prepare a pair of entrees for a panel of three judges. Each coach will also tape an extended segment with collegebaseballtoday.com's Eric Sorenson, which will be posted at on the Easton California College Baseball Media Day website following the event.

"This is a great event to showcase all that the Golden State has to offer in regards to college baseball," said Kyle Horn, Easton's Vice President of Marketing. "I am happy that Easton can play a big part in this event, and further our commitment to the collegiate game."

AM 830 Radio will be in attendance with the Sports Lodge show with host Roger Lodge. KTLA will also have live look-ins at the 7:15 and 8:15 time windows. One of the judges for the event will be longtime sports personality Ed Arnold.

Gillespie, recently inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, is in his third season at the helm of the Anteater program. The veteran skipper was named the 2009 Big West Coach of the Year after leading UCI to its first-ever Big West Conference title in 2009. Gillespie, 87-33 at UCI, boasts an 850-504-2 record in 22 years of Division I coaching and is ranked 24th among active DI coaches.
