IRVINE, Calif. --- Members of the UC Irvine baseball team spent time last Thursday (Jan. 29) with patients at Children's Hospital of Orange County and the student-athletes enjoyed their visit with the youngsters.
"We were fortunate enough to get an opportunity to visit and hang out with some of the kids at the Children's Hospital of Orange County this past week," senior Ben Orloff said. "The kids were awesome! It was real neat to see how brave and how much spirit these kids had.
"Our visit was really eye-opening and gave us all a perspective on what's really important in life. I will never forget the kids we were lucky enough to meet. It was an experience I will take with me the rest of my life," Orloff added.
"It was one of the best experiences I have ever had," said freshman DJ Crumlich. "Just seeing the look on those kids' faces when we were talking to them and playing games with them made me look at my own life differently. Those kids have been through so much, yet they are still so happy and enjoy every moment of their lives.
"The trip was very life-changing for me and I'm sure the other guys felt the same. I would like to do it again if the opportunity arises," Crumlich said.
