IRVINE, Calif. --- Junior Scott Gorgen (Concord/Clayton Valley HS) earned his fourth All-America honor this year as the right-hander was named to Baseball America's second team.

Gorgen, who was a first-team choice by Collegiate Baseball, the NCBWA and Rivals.com, put together a stellar junior campaign. The fourth-round draft pick by the St. Louis Cardinals recorded a 12-3 record on the mound and a 2.26 ERA. Gorgen amassed 123 strikeouts to place second in the UCI season records and owns the second and third-best marks in that category. In the career record books, Gorgen is the only Anteater to reach 300 or more strikeouts, fanning 327 in three seasons. He is also second in career victories with 32 and fourth with a .744 winning percentage. The right-hander became UCI's first Big West Pitcher of the Year and the first Anteater to compete on the USA baseball national team (2007). Over his career Gorgen was named Big West Pitcher of the Week six times, more than any other UCI baseball player and he is the only player to receive all-conference first-team honors twice.

Gorgen led UC Irvine to a 42-18 record and the Anteaters' third consecutive post-season appearance. UCI swept the Lincoln Regional before falling to LSU in super regional action.
