Anteater Trio Receives All-West Coast League Baseball Honors

IRVINE, Calif. --- Three UC Irvine baseball players have been selected to the All-West Coast League team today by member head coaches.

Ronnie Shaeffer (Garden Grove/Pacifica HS) was named an all-league first-team catcher after helping the Wenatchee AppleSox to a league title this summer. Shaeffer batting .277 in 36 games and recorded 36 hits, including seven doubles and three home runs. Shaeffer also snuffed out 13 stolen base attempts and was errorless on the field while driving in 20 RBI to tie for fourth on the team.

D.J. Crumlich (Irvine/HS), also a member of the champion AppleSox, earned all-league honorable mention honors after batting .261. One of three players on the team to reach 40 hits with 41, Crumlich also had seven doubles and a triple while totaling 22 RBI. The infielder was third on the team with 18 base on balls and stolen three bases.

Jordan Leyland (San Dimas/HS) was also an honorable mention selection. Leyland, a member of the Bend Elks, batted .333 in 41 games and was second on the team with 54 hits. The first baseman posted a team- best 13 doubles and also registered a pair of home runs and 25 RBI.
