IRVINE, Calif. --- Matt Whitehouse (Diamond Bar, Calif.), a pitcher from Damien High School, has accepted an offer of admission to UC Irvine and will be a member of the 2010 team, announced associate head coach Pat Shine.

Whitehouse, a 6-1 southpaw, was 9-1 on the mound his senior season and struck out 87 batters in 70 innings, including dealing 17-strikeout no-hitter. He was a two-time All-Sierra League selection and 2009 all-area choice. Whitehouse was also named a 2009 San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire All-Star. Whitehouse was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Chino Baseball Tournament and also earned scholar-athlete honors last season.
