Luke Nelson Earns Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater Of The Week Honor

IRVINE, Calif. – Men's basketball player Luke Nelson has been named Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the Week after helping UC Irvine beat UC Santa Barbara and Hawai'i.

The senior led the Anteaters with a season-high 29 points at Hawai'i, before a crowd of 7,438, in the 72-58 victory. Nelson was 10 of 19 from the field with a career-high six threes. Nelson currently has 227 career three-pointers, moving into third all-time at UCI, passing current assistant coach Michael Wilder (224). The guard has scored 1,361 career points to rank ninth at UCI, 23 behind eighth-place Will Davis II (1,384).

To start the week, Nelson recorded 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in the 64-47 victory over UCSB.

The Anteaters are 15-12 overall and 8-3 in the Big West to sit in second place, a half-game behind UC Davis.

UC Irvine hosts UC Riverside at the Bren Events Center, Saturday, February 22 at 9:00 p.m. The game will be aired on ESPNU.
