IRVINE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's and women's basketball teams are part of the lineup for this Friday's SHOCKTOBERFEST 2009 presented by ASUCI.

The night-time event consists of an outdoor street festival where Mesa Road will be shut down to accommodate thousands of students, an outdoor performance stage, and club and sponsor booths. Festivities move inside the Bren Events Center for Midnight Magic that will feature introductions of the men's and women's basketball teams, as well as battle-of-the-sexes three-point shooting competition and annual dunk contest. The night also includes musical performances from Gym Class Heroes and Shwayze.

The evening is topped off by Aftershock, the SHOCKTOBERFEST after-party, outside on the street where people dance the night away to DJ Miles spinning on the outdoor stage.

SHOCKTOBERFEST is a large indoor/outdoor festival. This is a free event for UCI undergraduate students, as it is fully funded by the ASUCI undergraduate fee. The Bren Events Center has a fixed capacity that we cannot exceed. Wristbands are required for entry into the Bren Events Center. Students without wristbands may attend SHOCKTOBERFEST but will be limited to the outdoor street festival and Aftershock party. A video screen will be visible to the street festival to broadcast the indoor concert and basketball activities to anyone that is outside.

SHOCKTOBERFEST Wristband Distribution Policy

You must have a wrist band to enter the Bren Events Center for SHOCKTOBERFEST. UC Irvine students and valid registered guests (see below) are the only ones eligible for a wristband.

Wristbands will be distributed at two locations on Thursday, Oct. 15. Each location will have 2,000 wristbands to distribute. Once those wristbands are distributed, the event will be officially sold out.

Student Center Area - 9am. Qty. 2,000

Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) - 6pm. Qty. 2,000

You must present a valid UCI ID to receive a wristband.

You may only pick-up a wristband for yourself.

You must wear the wristband once you pick it up and you may not remove it.

Wristbands that have been removed or tampered with will not be honored at the Bren. A wristband will guarantee you admittance into the Bren Events Center up until 10pm on Oct. 16. No re-entry will be allowed.
