Men's Crew:
Anteater Men Race at W.I.R.A Championships
May 22, 2007
The men's rowing program concluded its season at the W.I.R.A. Championships last weekend and recorded the Anteaters' best team finish since the regattas inception. Our association is comprised of 29 schools and the anteaters placed 3 eights in the grand finals. In the heats on Saturday the novice men's eight won a close battle with Lewis & Clark College to advance to Sunday's grand final where they finished 6th. The men's JV8 placed 5th in a 7 boat final just ahead of USD avenging two prior loses to the Toreros. The varsity 8 was able to come back after two losses to Orange Coast during the season to defeat the Pirates and make the grand final where they placed 6th. The Anteaters' also raced a novice 4, varsity 2 and a varsity lightweight 8. All but 2 of the athletes in these events where rowing in other boats so they where not able to practice together and the row up to the starting line was the only time they had to get used to rowing together. The men's novice 4 placed 6th in the petite level final placing them 12th overall. The V2 placed 3rd in the petite final placing them 9th overall and the lightweight 8 placed 5th in the grand final. The men finished 4th behind OCC, UCSD and UCD for the team point's trophy.
