UCI Wraps Up Play at ASU Thunderbird Invite

TEMPE, Ariz. --- UC Irvine finished 13th in the 45th annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational that concluded Sunday at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.

The Anteaters ended play with a 54-hole total of 865. Host Arizona State won the tournament by 20 shots with a 41-under par total of 811. UNLV was second at 831 and the Arizona State "B" team placed third at 834.

UCI junior David Kim finished 16th with a three-round score of 211 after shooting a 72 Sunday.

Senior Bryan Shin fired a 2-under 69 in the final round and placed 44th at 216, junior Ryan O'Connor (71) was 48th at 217, freshman Jonathan Kang (73) finished 66th at 224 and junior Jonathan Young (76) was 71st at 226.

Collin Morikawa of California was medalist with a 13-under total of 200.

The 'Eaters will be back in action April 8-9 at the 71st annual Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
