UC Irvine Finishes 7th at Fresno State Lexus Classic

FRESNO, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team finished seventh in the Fresno State Lexus Classic that concluded Tuesday at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno.

UCI had a 54-hole total of 1,107 in the 16-team field. BYU won the tournament by defeating San Diego in a one-hole playoff after both teams finished three rounds tied at 1,085. Washington placed third at 1,087.

UCI's John Chin shot a 5-under 66 in the final round to finish at 5-under 208 for the tournament, but he was defeated in a playoff by BYU's Robbie Fillmore. Playing the par-5 18th in the first hole of the playoff, Fillmore recorded a birdie and Chin a par.

The Anteaters' Tim Cha finished 25th at 220 after shooting 72 in Tuesday's third round. Shaun O'Meara shot a 78 and finished 61st at 227, Mickey Chan (74) was 65th at 228, Max Greil (74) placed 74th at 230 and Bryan Harris (78) was 89th at 235.

UCI returns to action Mar. 25-26 in the Barona Collegiate Cup at the Barona Creek Golf Club in Lakeside, Calif.
