WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --- Severe weather forced suspension of the third round Friday at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship in West Lafayette, Ind.

UC Irvine was still on the course when play was suspended for the day at 2:55 p.m. (PDT) when the teams had to seek shelter at Mackey Arena (Purdue's basketball facility).

Fifteen teams in the 30-team field need to complete third-round play, which will resume Saturday at 4:00 a.m. (PDT). The top 15 teams following completion of the third round will compete in the fourth and final round beginning at 8:00 a.m. (PDT) on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

The Anteaters, who entered Friday in 22nd place, have moved up to a tie with Middle Tennessee State for 17th place at 49-over par. UCI, which had started play on the back nine when play was suspended, is just four shots away from the current cut line of 45-over currently held by Texas A&M, which has completed its third round, and Auburn, which still has holes to play.

UCLA finished its third round and is in first place at 24-over 888. USC and Clemson have completed the third round and share second place at 27-over 891.

UCI sophomore John Chin is 1-over in his third round with five holes to play. Junior Sean Shahi is also 1-over in his round with six holes left, junior Tim Cha is 3-over with seven holes remaining, senior Kenny Kim is also 3-over with four holes left and freshman Max Greil is 14-over with four holes to play.

UCLA's Kevin Chappell has concluded his third round and is the individual leader at 6-under 210 after shooting a 4-under 68 Friday.
