WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --- UC Irvine missed the cut Saturday in the NCAA Division I Championship on the Kampen Course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Anteaters were one of 15 teams forced to complete the third round Saturday morning following the suspension of play due to weather Friday. UCI shot a 14-over 302 in the third round and missed the cut by six shots. The Anteaters had a 54-hole total of 919 and was 20th following the third round as the top 15 teams then advanced to the final round later Saturday.

UCI juniors Sean Shahi and Tim Cha, and sophomore John Chin each finished with a 54-hole total of 229. Chin shot 73 in the third round, Shahi 74 and Cha 78.

Senior Kenny Kim, with a 77, had a 54-hole score of 235 and freshman Max Greil shot 88 for a final count of 248.

UCI was competing at the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2001. Coach Paul Smolinski's team won its second straight Big West Conference title this season and finished third at the NCAA East Regional.

UCLA won the NCAA team title with a 72-hole score of 1,194, Stanford was second at 1,195 and USC third at 1,196.

UCLA's Kevin Chappell won the individual title with a four-round total of 2-under 286 after a 76 in his final round.
