KAHUKU, Hawaii---UC Irvine is in sixth place following Monday's first round of the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational at the Turtle Bay Resort Golf Club.

San Diego State leads the 19-team tournament with an 11-under par score of 277. UCI is seven shots back in sixth place at 284.

Adam Wennerstrom of Texas and Andrew Cooley from San Diego State are the individual leaders with opening rounds of 6-under 66.

UCI's John Chin and Sean Shahi are tied for 13th place with first-round scores of 2-under 70. Michael Im is 26th at 71, Cean Hayashi Geronimo 45th at 73, and Max Greil is in 59th place after shooting 74.

The tournament continues with 18 holes each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
