UC Irvine Competes at Alister MacKenzie Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. --- Coach Paul Smolinski's UC Irvine men's golf team competes in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 12-13) at the Meadow Club in Fairfax.

The tournament format is 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 Tuesday on the par-71 layout that spans 6,686 yards.

Joining UCI and host Cal in the field are Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State, Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, USF, San Jose State, Washington State and Wisconsin.

UCI's lineup is scheduled to include seniors Tim Cha and John Chin, junior Max Greil, and freshmen Jerry He and Mickey Chan.

This is the second tournament of the year for the Anteaters, who finished sixth of 19 teams at the UTA/Waterchase Invitational in Fort Worth, Tex., last month.

Greil led UCI with a 13th-place finish of 219, Cha was 16th at 220, Chin 36th at 224 and He 52nd at 227. The MacKenzie will be the first college tournament for Chan.
