3 Former UCI Players Advance to Second Stage of PGA Q School

IRVINE, Calif. --- Former UC Irvine golfers Kenny Kim, Mike Lavery and Eric Wang have advanced to the second stage of PGA Qualifying School.

Kim finished 15th in the field of the first stage at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister, Calif., Oct. 29-Nov. 1 with a 72-hole total of 9-under 279. He had rounds of 69, 71, 68 and 71.

Lavery placed seventh in his first stage at Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee, Calif., with a 72-hole score of 4-under 284. Lavery carded rounds of 71, 70, 69 and 74.

Wang played in the first stage at East Valley Golf Club (Champions Course) in Beaumont, Calif., and finished 10th with a 2-over total of 290 on rounds of 72, 74, 75 and 69.

The second stage of qualifying will be conducted at six different courses between Nov. 12 and Nov. 22.

The final stage is Dec. 3-8 at PGA West (Nicklaus Tournament Course & TPC Stadium Course) in La Quinta.
