IRVINE, Calif. --- Allan Jun and Pete Fernandez have signed national letters of intent with the UC Irvine men's golf program, announced by Anteater head coach Paul Smolinski.

Jun is from Oceanside (El Camino High School) and is ranked No. 32 nationally in the Boys' Golfweek rankings and 46th in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings for the class of 2010.

He won the Future Champions Golf San Diego Junior Masters last July and the San Diego Junior Golf Association's Paul Benoit Memorial last May. He also qualified for the USGA Junior Amateur Championship in July.

Fernandez is from Bakersfield High School and is ranked No. 79 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard class of 2010 rankings and 169th by Golfweek.

He finished third in the SCPGA's Junior Tour Toyota Cup at Santa Ana last July and was fourth in the California State Junior Amateur Championship in August.

Jun and Fernandez represented Southern California at the Boys' Junior America's Cup this past summer.

"We are excited about the signing of Allan and Pete to our program for 2010," Smolinski said. "They both have had a great deal of success competing in local and national tournaments, and they are sure to be key players on our roster in the future.

"They are both committed student-athletes who had other college options, so we are thrilled that they have chosen UC Irvine," Smolinski added.
