  • UC Irvine secured its first Big West South division title and fourth overall Big West regular season title.
  • UCI is the top seed in the south. Should the Anteaters win the semifinal, they will host the final on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Anteater Stadium.
  • UC Irvine claimed Big West Midfielder of the Year (Enrique Cardenas) and Defender of the Year (Marco Franco). Each were also named All-Big West First Team with five other 'Eaters (Michael Breslin, Cameron Iwasa, Michael Sperber, Tarek Morad, Christopher Santana) named All-Big West.
  • The Anteaters have allowed 69 shots on goal, lowest in the Big West and six fewer than the next school (75 - UC Santa Barbara).
  • The 'Eaters are unbeaten (10-0-2) when scoring a goal in the second half.
  • Of UC Irvine's last 11 goals, 10 have either tied or broken a tie in that match.
  • Michael Breslin leads all Big West keepers with seven overall shutouts. He stands at third amongst Big West keepers in minutes played (1,778), goals-against-average (0.96), and second in conference saves (38).
  • Breslin has had scoreless streaks of 290, 224, and 212 minutes during the season.


  • UCI is currently 4-0 against ranked schools in 2013 and have a five-match winning streak against ranked foes: 3-1 over No. 11 UCLA, 1-0 over No. 16 Louisville, and 1-0 win over No. 21 CSUN to end the 2012 season along with one-goal efforts against it in 2013 while the Matadors were ranked fifth and 20th.
  • This season marks the sixth time in the last seven years UCI has collected five or more non-conference wins.
  • The 'Eaters' are 4-1 against schools in the RPI top-30. UCI has 12 of its 16 scheduled opponents currently inside the RPI top-100.


  • Michael Breslin is the fifth Anteater to be named Big West Player of the Week and makes it four 'Eaters in the last three weeks to earn the honor. Mats Bjurman, Mitchell Alvarez and Enrique Cardenas have taken home offensive honors while Breslin joins Marco Franco on the defensive end.
  • UCI has five players over the 1,600-minute mark; Marco Franco, Tarek Morad, Mats Bjurman, and Thomas Janjigian along with keeper Michael Breslin who is the lone 'Eater to play all 1,778.
  • Enrique Cardenas has converted all three penalty kick tries in 2013. UCI has converted eight of its last nine PK tries dating back to 2009 including four this season.


  • Michael Breslin's seven shutouts in 2013 have made him the sixth Anteater with 10 career shutouts.
  • Breslin also stands sixth all-time with 17 wins, a .514 winning percentage, and fourth with a 1.25 GAA.
  • Breslin has recorded the third-most wins in a season by a keeper with 12 and fourth-most shutouts with seven.
  • Enrique Cardenas has two three-match point streaks in 2013. He accounts for the three of the last four streaks of this length dating back to 2011.
  • UCI's win over No. 11 UCLA was the 250th in the history of the program.
  • UCI's 2-1 victory over CSUF was its 150th in Anteater Stadium.
  • No. 11 UCLA was the 12th top-20 opponent UCI has defeated in program history.
  • Cameron Iwasa scored his fifth career game-winning goal tying him for 10th in program history alongside current 'Eater, Enrique Cardenas.
  • Cameron Iwasa's game-winning goal in the seventh minute against Cal Poly was the 1,000th UC Irvine goal in the history of Anteater Stadium.


  • Since the integration of the Big West Tournament, UCI is 6-1 winning it three times. The Anteaters missed the tournament for the first time in 2012.
  • UCI will host UC Davis Friday. One of UCI's four losses in 2013 came at UC Davis. UC Davis shutout UCI in a physical match that saw five yellow cards and two red cards issued to UC Irvine.
  • The Aggies are 9-8-3, 4-4-3 away from home.
  • The one common opponent between the two is CSU Bakersfield. UCI won at CSUB by three while UC Davis lost at home by two.
  • UCD defeated UCR 3-1 in the first round match. It was the first time the Aggies had scored three goals in a match all season.
  • Matt Wiesenfarth and Matt Sheldon lead the Aggies with six goals each. Kevin Schulte and Nick Grigoriev each scored their first of the season against UCR.
  • Big West Goalkeeper of the Year Omar Zeenni has five shutouts and a 0.86 goals-against-average.


  • Brad Evans has earned a spot on the U.S. National squad this year. He has made 11 total appearances including three World Cup qualifiers in 2013. He scored his first international goal in a WCQ against Jamaica, a game-winner in stoppage time.
  • Evans is also the captain of the Seattle Sounders FC. He scored in the team's knockout round match to move them into the semifinals. Evans ranks in the top five in all major Sounders career categories while playing 24 matches in 2013 with five goals and eight assists.
  • Amani Walker and Andrew Fontein are teammates on the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League. Walker has two goals, one game-winner, and two assists in nine matches. Fontein has 14 saves in three starts.
  • Ibarra is a member of the Minnesota United FC. In 28 matches, Ibarra has one goal and three assists.
