SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 21 UC Irvine men's soccer team (5-1) lost 1-0 in double overtime to Loyola Chicago Friday night at the Adidas San Diego Classic at Torero Stadium.

 

The Anteaters and the Ramblers played a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation with the `Eaters outshooting the Ramblers 4-3 in regulation. The two teams then played 10 more scoreless minutes in the first overtime period. Loyola would end the match just 44 seconds into the second overtime period as Josh Westberg found Michael Ferguson who tapped the ball into the goal at the 100:44 mark.

 

Freshman keeper Pat Barton had three saves for UCI. Keeper Bryan Byrne had for saves for the Ramblers as he earned the shutout.


 

 

 

The Anteaters continue at the Adidas San Diego Classic Sunday as they face No. 9 Brown at 12:00 p.m. at Torero Stadium.
