SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's soccer team (5-3-3, 0-2-1) lost 3-2 to Cal Poly Wednesday night in Big West Conference play at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

The Anteaters took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute as sophomore Kevin Santora scored his first goal of the season from five yards out. UCI went up 2-0 as freshman Spencer Thompson scored his third goal of the season off an assist from junior Matt Murphy in the 19th minute. The Mustangs would cut the lead to 2-1 in the 64th minute as Julian Alvarez finished a ball from David Zamora. Zamora would tie the match at 2-2 in the 83rd minute as he scored on an assist from Kyle Montgomery. Zamora would strike again just over a minute later on a header off a Montgomery corner kick to give Cal Poly the 3-2 lead.

Freshman keeper Pat Barton had three saves for the 'Eaters. Keeper Eric Branagan-Franco had three saves for the Mustangs.

The Anteaters return to action Saturday as they travel to Fullerton to face cross-county rival Cal State Fullerton in Big West Conference play at 7:00 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
